Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic claimed her first singles title in three years with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win over Ashlyn Krueger at the Japan Open on Sunday in Osaka, Japan.
Siniakova broke the 22-year-old American’s serve six times in just 64 minutes to capture her sixth career singles title. It is her first since she won the Jiangxi Open in Nanchang, China, in 2023.
A Doubles Standout
The 30-year-old is better known for her doubles success, with 39 career titles. Most recently, she won the U.S. Open women’s doubles title with Taylor Townsend last month.
Returning to the Winner’s Circle
Siniakova’s victory in Japan came nine years after she won her first singles title in Shenzhen, China, in 2017.
